Hi family! Love you so much! Some of the members caught us at CVS yesterday playing with the greeting cards. There was one that really made us laugh. It had the Hulk on it and when you opened it, it said "Do NOT make me angry. You're NOT going to like me when I am angry!!!!" It was hilarious at the moment. Ah, the things that give you a hoot when you're a missionary. Oh! Could I have James' address at BYU? I need to send him a card I found. :-)
Hi everybody! Hope everyone had a fantabulous week! Pretty good one for us. We found 7 new people to teach. We were praying to find a family and a few days later we knocked on the door of this young couple who are really receptive. They are really nice and I'm so excited to go over again! We also had a good experience with one of the Young Women of the ward. We were walking down the street and we see her sitting outside a house with 3 older ladies. The ladies recognized us as from "Kylie's church." We were able to have a very good gospel conversation and ended up teaching them our little hand-signals that we use to remember the 10 commandments. They absolutely loved it. By the end I felt like they were all long-lost aunts or something. It was great. Kylie was smiling the whole time. When she had to go to babysit, the ladies kept talking about what a great girl she is. They said a prayer for her right there. Your example, no matter your age or situation in life, can make a difference in people's lives. Oh, one funny thing one of the ladies said. She said she really liked the "warm fuzzy" feeling you get when you talk about God. She said some people are just "fuzzy-depleted." I think that's a really nice term to use instead of some other words I've heard. :-) Don't be fuzzy-depleted. Have a fuzzy-fest. Feast at the fuzzy-fest! Feast freely at the fuzzy-fest. Ok I'm done. :-)
We got to go help pick grapes at the church vineyard this week! They make raisins which they use for welfare and humanitarian aid. Each ward has a certain amount of rows to take care of. It was so much fun! It was really dirty and dusty but really cool. The rows we had were really long but it went by so fast! We had a little tub that we put the grapes in then laid them out on brown paper that we laid out between the rows. We had little curved knives to pick with. Some of the bunches were already half-raisins. Some had what was called "bunch rot" where the grapes had broken or something and they were rotting. They had a vinegar-smell to them. Those we just cut off and left on the ground. There were a lot of spider webs in between the vines but no one got bit. You just had to dive in and not worry about it. My companion and I bought matching hats at the dollar store and had people sign them with my fabric marker. The Elders said we looked silly. As for them, they had raided a member's closet for matching sombreros.
The temperature's leveling out. Still warm but it's not as hot as it has been. We try and bike as much as we can so not to use the miles on the car. We sometimes bike in the morning for exercise. That's fun. It's really beautiful in the morning.
I know I would not still be here if I was on my own. I really do feel a strength that is not my own. I'm scared to ever have that taken away. I know this is a really special time and I have a great work to do. I don't know how, but somehow I know I can do it. At the beginning of our mission, they had us set mission goals. We set monthly, weekly and daily goals in between. We keep moving forward towards the vision that we want to create. The goals are what we want to accomplish. The plans are the little things we do to get there. The vision is our motivation, or why we do it. I know God has a vision for all of us and that is something we can't comprehend right now, but it's there. We have divine potential.
Hope everyone's doing well and having a great week! Remember who you are!
