June 1, 2010

Hi family!  Missionaries hate national holidays, especially on Mondays.  We don't get mail and we can't e-mail our family. :-)  It's all good.  When that happens we can take an extra long lunch on Tuesday and e-mail.  We are not allowed to use members' computers.
James, congrats on your graduation again!!!!  I wish I could have been there to hear Clark's cello too!  Can I schedule a "favorites" concert for when I get back?  Just make a list of everything I missed and play it ALL when I get back ok?  Keep practicing. :-)  I love you all and miss you so much!

Hi everybody! Well, this week are the dreaded transfers!  I am going to be staying here in Hanford. My companion is going up to Atwater.  Funny.  She will be in my previous area with my previous companion.  My new companion is an English sister.  Once again, I'm nervous about my Spanish.  It will be hard to learn.  I'm in an English ward and most of our teaching is in English.  A few months ago I think they had the Elders do all the Spanish for Hanford because their ward has a Spanish group and they have Spanish translation for sacrament meeting.  Now we can teach Spanish if we find them but there's not much practice.  Ah!  We have two families we teach who speak Spanish.  I'm going to be relying on the Spirit a lot for translation.  I know with God all things are possible if you believe.
There was something that stuck out to me in church on Sunday.  I've heard it before but someone said "My faith is not dependent on outcomes."  If things don't go exactly the way WE expect them too, even if we feel our desires are just, we shouldn't loose our faith.  If it is centered on Christ, we can stay strong.  The Lord's will WILL be done.  Heavenly Father knows what will bring us and others the most happiness.  That's hard as a missionary because you want people to receive the blessings of the gospel because you care about them.  But people have their agency.  That's one of our greatest gifts, the ability to choose for ourselves.  We can choose liberty and eternal life through Christ or the opposite through what Satan and the world has to offer.  Satan's plan was to force everyone to make the right choices.
I know that Christ lives and only through him we can live with Heavenly Father and our families forever.  We are here for a reason.  There is a specific plan for our lives.  No matter the outcome, center your faith on Jesus Christ.  It wasn't easy for Him either.  We're not better than Him so don't think we get to skip the challenges.  Just keep up the faith and we are helped the rest of the way.
I hope everyone has a good week!  Keep smiling/laughing/enjoying the gift of life daily!
