Hi family! Tell Grandma I got her package and I loved it! (She sent me a tin of chocolate :-) ) I also got the package full of letters from the children in the ward which was ADOREABLE!!! I love things like that. You can tell them thank you so much and I'll try and send something back soon. I didn't have a chance to write any letters yesterday because we got to go to Yosemite national park. We got permission. It was gorgeous but the windy roads there and back were murder. I know our bodies are temples and obviously the lunch I ate did not have a recommend. But we got lots of pictures and postcards to send. If I did go to summer term wouldn't I have to sign up sooner that when I get back? Thank you for all your support and prayers and love! I don't know where I'd be without it. I love you all!!!
Hi everybody! How was everyone's week? Sorry again last week was kind of short, we were really rushed and I forgot half the things I wanted to say. Pues, ni modo. For Thanksgiving we got to eat with some members and a recent convert. We got to go around and each say what we're thankful for, just like I usually get to do with my family at home. That was nice. I love doing that, especially with members because it ultimately turns into a testimony meeting because everything we have to be grateful for comes from our Heavenly Father.
Yesterday we got permission to travel to Yosemite national park. It's about 2 hours away from here. It was gorgeous! There was snow up there too. We got to see a few waterfalls. The time of the day made it so there were rainbows at the bottom. There was one trail that led right up to the base of Yosemite falls. Just standing there looking at it, the hymn came to me 'How great thou art'. "Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds thy hands have made...thy power throughout the universe displayed, then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee: How great thou art!" It was very awe-inspiring.
Nancy and Jose are SO CLOSE to baptism! It has been a long process but we're getting there. We are just praying really hard that everything goes well in this last little bit. We have another investigator who is very prepared to hear the gospel. He was taught before. He and his wife were into drugs and everything really bad but they are willing to do whatever it takes to improve their lives and come closer to the Savior. They have the cutest little 4 year old daughter. There are so many others we are teaching that are not really progressing but ALMOST. We've been focusing on sacrifice as a mission lately and we have chosen sacrifices we can make on a zone level, a district level, a companionship level and a personal level. Elder Sybrowski that came for zone conference talked about the "Doctrine of Everything." We receive the blessings only if we are willing to do EVERYTHING we can to prove to him that we are worthy to receive them. We can always be asking ourselves What more can I do? None of us are perfect and we can all do something more.
I have the best companion ever. She is so patient and spiritually in-tune. She helps me so much. Sometimes you just need someone there who cares about you to set you straight in a loving way and she knows how to do that very well. She was actually feeling like she's not talented because she knows I can play music and ride a unicycle and all that but those types of talents don't matter that much. Not all talents can be performed on a stage and actually the ones that only Heavenly Father sees are really the ones that matter most. You can be a good listener or good at giving hugs to people that need it. You can have a wonderful smile or be a good teacher. We are all wonderful, talented children of our Heavenly Father.
It is getting colder and it's starting to be foggy more often. We will probably have a white Christmas but it won't be the ground that's white. :-)
Everybody have a wonderful week! Remember how valuable each and every one of you are! Keep the true spirit of CHRISTmas in your hearts!
Hermana Evans
